Self care is important

  1. Thanks for the excellent read, incredibly helpful. For me the self-care is important to maintaining a healthy relationship with yourself. It means doing things to take care of our minds, bodies, and souls by engaging in activities that promote well-being and reduce stress. Doing so enhances our ability to live fully, vibrantly, and effectively.
    The practice of self-care also reminds us and and others that our needs are valid and a priority. Few other ways to practice self care are;

    Put on comfy socks/slippers
    Play a silly game with a loved one
    Tell yourself you are important in the mirror
    Give yourself permission to say no
    Make a sugar scrub and bathe in it
    Drink a cup of herbal tea
    Set a small goal for the next day
    Watch a Ted talk
    Diffuse essential oils
    Eat vegetarian for a day
    Tell yourself you love yourself
    Go out for ice cream with a friend or loved one
    Listen to a guided visualization exercise
    Go to the beach or mountains
    Sing “Let it Go” from Frozen at the top of your lungs
    Order take out
    Blow bubbles
    Make scrapbook
    Build a fort and lay down there
    Tell jokes
    Garden with your family
    Call or FaceTime your friends
    Tell yourself that you are healing

    Activities are a great way for us to distract ourselves from our current emotions until we are better able to cope. When our level of distress is too high, we may not be able to effectively handle a situation and need ways to bring our emotional state down. One person’s self-care activity is another’s distraction technique.
